Fluence Energy Inc. - FLNC
The Moss Landing Energy Storage facility is really burning this time...
In my original spiel from December 2022, I pointed out and linked to a story about an “overheating” incident at Vistra Corps (VST) 300MW Phase 1 Moss Landing Energy Storage facility back in 2021. There was another incident at this same plant in 2022.
Here is another story if you don’t care to read through that spiel and pull up that old link.
Vistra would go on to expand the facility by 100MW in their phase 2 expansion later in 2021, followed by a 350MW expansion is phase 3, with plans to expand it up to 1600MW at some point in the future.
Those plans may have all just gone up in smoke.
Turns out, they may just need to start from scratch, with some news reports claiming that so far 40% of the battery plant may be gone, and the fires are still burning.
We sure FLNC is involved in this one? We see mention of Vistra owning the plant and LG supplying the batteries..
The fire started in the phase 1 portion of the plant, so they sure appear to be involved.
Keep in mind that 70%+ of the company’s revenues for FY2025 are slated to be recognized in Q3 and Q4.
Any chance some projects may be either delayed, pushed out, or halted due to this?
